Walking into Arlo Chicago feels like stepping into one of those boutique hotels that actually gets it right. Located right on North Michigan Avenue in the Loop, you’re literally in the thick of everything that makes Chicago tick.

Honestly, the location here is pretty spectacular — I mean, couples are rating it 9.8 out of 10, which tells you something. You’re a two-minute walk from Millennium Park (Bean included), and the Art Institute is practically next door. What I really appreciate is that you can walk to most of the major attractions without dealing with the hassle of rideshares or figuring out the L system, though the stations are right there if you want to venture further out. The Loop can get busy during the day with all the office workers, but evenings have this nice energy when everyone’s heading to dinner or shows.

The Room Experience

The room design is what I’d call “smart small” — they’ve maximized every inch without making you feel cramped. Floor-to-ceiling windows give you proper city views, and the beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many four-star places mess this up). The bathrooms are sleek with good water pressure, which honestly matters more than fancy toiletries. There’s enough space to spread out your stuff, and the lighting works for both getting ready and winding down.

Breakfast and Dining

The American breakfast here is solid — nothing too fancy, but they do the classics well. I actually liked that it wasn’t trying to be something it’s not, just good coffee, proper eggs, and fresh pastries. The restaurant downstairs has a nice buzz in the evenings, and while you’re surrounded by incredible dining options in the Loop, it’s convenient to have something decent right in the building when you don’t feel like venturing out.

What really works about Arlo Chicago is how it balances being in the center of everything without feeling touristy or overwhelming. The staff seems to actually know the neighborhood — they’ll point you toward the good coffee spots locals use, not just the obvious chains. Parking is available (which is no small thing in downtown Chicago), and the whole place has this energy that feels more like staying in a well-designed urban apartment than a generic hotel. It’s the kind of place where you can easily walk to dinner, catch a show, or just wander around exploring, then come back to somewhere that feels like a proper home base rather than just a place to sleep.

  For the price this hotel is unbeatable. I had absolutely zero issues and felt safe as a solo female traveler. The location is amazing and for the value you can’t complain. I didn’t take advantage of the dining/beverage credit so i can’t speak on that but I would 100% stay here again.

  Awesome location. One block away from the Millenium park, couple of blocks from the river, the art institute. We walked everywhere. Great restaurants nearby. Breakfast at their facility was really good.
