You’re close enough to Navy Pier for a sunset walk, but you can also duck into one of those hidden speakeasies that locals actually frequent.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in faced Michigan Avenue, which meant I could people-watch from 20 floors up — oddly entertaining, actually. The space feels modern without being sterile, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that make Chicago look like a movie set. The bed was comfortable (important after walking miles around the city), and the bathroom had good water pressure, which you don’t always get in older downtown buildings. There’s enough space to spread out your shopping bags and tourist brochures without feeling cramped.

The American breakfast here is solid — nothing revolutionary, but it gets the job done before a day of sightseeing. What I appreciated was the restaurant staying busy with both hotel guests and locals, which usually means the food is decent. The fitness center actually gets used (always a good sign), and there’s something satisfying about working out while looking down at the city streets. Parking is available, though honestly, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re here — the ‘L’ stops are close, and most attractions are within walking distance.
