Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/N Loop/Michigan Ave Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Hampton Inn Chicago Downtown/N Loop/Michigan Ave, you immediately get that “I’m in the thick of it” feeling. The lobby isn’t trying to be fancy — it’s clean, modern, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want when you’re staying in the Loop. This three-star hotel sits right on East Wacker Place, which means you’re literally surrounded by some of Chicago’s most iconic architecture. I mean, step outside and you’re looking up at skyscrapers that define the city’s skyline.

Location That Actually Matters

Here’s the thing about this spot — couples give the location a 9.4 rating, and I totally get why. You’re a quick walk to Millennium Park, the Riverwalk is right there, and Michigan Avenue shopping is basically at your doorstep. What I really appreciate is that you can walk to most of the major attractions without dealing with the hassle of figuring out the L system every single time. The Loop can feel overwhelming, but this hotel puts you right where you want to be without the chaos of being directly on Michigan Avenue itself.

The Room Experience

The room setup is pretty standard Hampton Inn — nothing groundbreaking, but everything works exactly as it should. What really stands out (and apparently other guests agree) is how comfortable the beds actually are. I was skeptical at first because, you know, hotel bed claims, but honestly? I slept better than I expected. The rooms are quiet considering you’re in downtown Chicago, which is no small feat. You’ve got your standard amenities, decent space for a downtown hotel, and windows that give you glimpses of the city buzz below.

Breakfast and Practical Stuff

The complimentary breakfast is American buffet style — think scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, the usual suspects. It’s not going to win any culinary awards, but it gets the job done and saves you from hunting down coffee at 7 AM in an unfamiliar neighborhood. What I found useful was that the breakfast area gets busy around 8-9 AM (business travelers, you know), so if you’re an early riser, you’ll have more space and fresher options.

Why Guests Love It

This hotel works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re paying for a solid, reliable stay in an excellent location — and that location score of 9.5 isn’t just marketing fluff. When you can walk to Navy Pier, catch a show in the Theater District, or grab dinner in River North without needing a car or complicated transit, that’s real value. The staff keeps things running smoothly, the building feels secure, and you wake up in the heart of one of America’s great cities. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need from a downtown hotel stay.

  • Jae from United States (8/10)

The breakfast was served, and it was more than enough to fill my stomach. Eggs, muffin, bagel, waffles, yogurt, and etc were good. The employees working at the cafeteria worked diligently to replenish all the food. When my flight was delayed and canceled to due to maintenance issues, the hotel employee was very accommodating.
