It’s positioned right in Streeterville, which honestly couldn’t be better if you’re trying to balance downtown energy with actually being able to walk places without dodging too much chaos.

You know what really struck me about this four-star spot? The location is genuinely exceptional — I mean, couples rate it 9.4, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You’re literally steps from Navy Pier and the lakefront, but also within easy reach of the Magnificent Mile shopping. Streeterville has this perfect sweet spot vibe where you feel connected to everything Chicago offers, but you’re not stuck in the thick of tourist madness. The neighborhood actually has character, with decent restaurants and that proximity to Lake Michigan that makes morning walks feel almost mandatory.

The Room Experience

Here’s where Hotel EMC2, Autograph Collection really delivers — the beds are legitimately some of the most comfortable I’ve encountered in Chicago. There’s something about the mattress quality and bedding that just works, and honestly, after long days exploring the city, that matters more than you’d think. The rooms themselves lean into that science theme without going overboard, with clean lines and thoughtful touches that feel modern rather than trendy. The windows are generous, so you actually get decent natural light, which can be hit-or-miss in downtown hotels.

Breakfast & Dining

The American breakfast here is solid — not groundbreaking, but executed well with quality ingredients and options that’ll fuel whatever you’ve got planned for the day. I appreciated that they didn’t try to overcomplicate things or go too fancy. Sometimes you just want good coffee, fresh pastries, and maybe some eggs that taste like eggs, you know? The dining area has that same refined aesthetic as the rest of the hotel, so it’s actually pleasant to linger over breakfast rather than feeling rushed.

  Very unique hotel! Aside from the usual amenities one expects to have a at a 4star hotel, I especially loved all the little touches that made it different…. The elevators were efficient and not like the usual elevator, there were unusual artworks throughout, with a contemporary and art deco flair, glass showers in the rooms with rain shower fixtures, and cute little delivery robots that brought room service! They had an excellent bar/lounge serving handcrafted specialty drinks with an exterior seating area streetside where you could “people watch”. The restaurant has an excellent reputation for its food (although we did not have a chance to try it out. All the staff we encountered were pleasant and super helpful. Someone spoke to us every time we passed the desk when coming in or going out for the day. The hotel is located very centrally and within easy walking distance from most downtown attractions. And they are a dog friendly hotel!! In fact, they have a dog statue to greet guests out front !! City views from the rooms are incredible!
