Hotel Lincoln Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Lincoln on North Clark Street, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain hotel. The building has this classic Chicago charm that feels both historic and refreshingly modern — honestly, it’s exactly what you’d hope for in Lincoln Park. I mean, the location alone had me sold before I even stepped inside, and apparently I’m not the only one who feels this way since recent guests consistently rate it a 9.1 for location.
The Lincoln Park Advantage
Here’s what I love about staying in this part of Chicago — you’re literally steps from Lincoln Park Zoo, which is free by the way, and the lakefront trail that locals actually use for their morning runs. The four-star hotel sits right in the heart of one of the city’s most walkable neighborhoods, where you can grab coffee at a local spot, browse the boutiques on Lincoln Avenue, or just people-watch in DePaul University’s backyard. Couples especially seem to get this location — they’ve rated it 9.2 for romantic getaways, and honestly, I can see why with all those tree-lined streets perfect for evening strolls.
Your Home Base
The room I stayed in had that boutique hotel feel without being overly precious about it. You know what I appreciated? The windows actually open — something you don’t always get in newer hotels — and the views either look out toward the park or give you glimpses of the Chicago skyline. The design strikes this nice balance between contemporary and cozy, with local artwork that doesn’t feel like generic hotel decor. Plus, there’s something to be said for having enough space to actually unpack your suitcase without playing Tetris with your belongings.
Morning Fuel and Practical Perks
The American breakfast setup works well if you’re planning to explore the city — nothing too fancy, but solid options that’ll keep you going until you discover some of Lincoln Park’s amazing brunch spots (which, trust me, are everywhere). What really impressed me was the parking situation; they actually have private parking available, which anyone who’s tried to park in this neighborhood will tell you is basically a small miracle. It’s one of those details that seems minor until you’re circling blocks at 10 PM looking for a spot.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Hotel Lincoln isn’t trying to be the flashiest place in town, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re getting genuine Chicago neighborhood vibes without sacrificing comfort or service quality — that 7.5 rating reflects exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star experience. The staff clearly knows the area and can point you toward the good stuff, whether that’s the best deep-dish pizza nearby or which entrance to use for the zoo. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Lincoln Park, not just visiting it, and for a lot of travelers, that authentic neighborhood experience is worth way more than marble lobbies and over-the-top amenities.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Chicago around West Loop for chef-driven restaurants, street art walks, and market halls.

Great location on the south end of Lincoln Park. Walkable to Old Town and many restaurants. Cool eclectic lobby with rooftop restaurant and bar.

When I asked to change rooms because the first room was completely inferior, they made they change and were very pleasant about it. I would not recommend room 810 to anyone.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Lincoln Park Zoo is across the street. We took our kids there every morning before we went to see the city. My wife and I walked to a second city performance one night and that was a 5 minute walk. We also walked with the kids to see the Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre. My wife and I were very happy with the location of the hotel because we could easily walk to our destinations.
