Majestic Hotel Overview
First Impressions
The Majestic Hotel sits on a quiet stretch of West Brompton in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood, and honestly, the name fits better than you’d expect from a three-star property. I mean, it’s not going to blow you away with marble lobbies or anything, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about the place that hits you right when you walk in. The staff actually seems to care about getting you settled, which — let’s be real — isn’t always a given at this price point.
The Lakeview Advantage
You know what really works here? The location is absolutely spot-on, especially if you’re traveling as a couple. I get why guests rate it so highly — you’re tucked into one of Chicago’s most livable neighborhoods, where locals actually hang out rather than just tourists. Wrigley Field is close enough that you can catch a Cubs game without the downtown hotel prices, and the lakefront is just a short walk east. There’s parking available right at the hotel too, which honestly saves you a massive headache if you’re driving in Chicago. The neighborhood truly offers everything you need within walking distance.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable — nothing fancy, but everything worked properly and the bed was actually decent. The windows face west toward the neighborhood, so you get a real sense of being in a residential area rather than some sterile hotel district. I appreciated that they didn’t try to oversell what this place is; it’s straightforward accommodation that does the job well. The bathroom was updated enough that you don’t feel like you’re staying in someone’s grandmother’s house from 1987. Each detail reflects thoughtful maintenance and care.
Neighborhood Dining
While there isn’t a full-service restaurant on-site, you’re surrounded by some genuinely good local spots that most tourists never find. The Thai place two blocks south is excellent, and there’s a coffee shop around the corner that actually knows how to make a proper espresso. This is the kind of neighborhood where you can grab groceries, hit a decent bar, or find a quiet spot to eat without feeling like you’re in some tourist bubble. It’s real Chicago, which I think is worth more than room service anyway. The dining scene here reflects authentic local culture.
Why Guests Love It
Look, the Majestic Hotel isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You get a solid place to stay in one of the city’s best neighborhoods without paying downtown prices or dealing with downtown chaos. The fact that couples consistently rate the location so highly tells you everything — this is the kind of spot where you can actually experience Chicago like people who live here do. It’s comfortable, well-located, and refreshingly honest about what it offers. This authenticity makes all the difference for discerning travelers.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Chicago before marathon weekend fills riverfront paths with cheering crowds.

The location is great – very close to Lakefront, public transportation, and dining options but also on a very quiet residential street. Very low "city noise". if coming from O'Hare, its an easy trip via the Blue Line & the #152 bus.

Despite old, the hotel is very clean and comfortable. With just one bus you can reach the city center.
