Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, you immediately sense you’re somewhere special — the lobby feels polished and upscale without being stuffy. What really struck me was how the staff seemed genuinely happy to be there, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re dragging luggage after a long flight. The four-star property has this refined energy that feels both professional and welcoming, and you can tell right away that this isn’t just another cookie-cutter hotel chain experience.
Prime Riverwalk Location
The location is absolutely unbeatable — I mean, you’re literally steps from the Chicago Riverwalk, which becomes your personal pathway to explore the city. You can walk to Millennium Park in about ten minutes, and Navy Pier is right there when you want that classic Chicago tourist experience. What couples really love (and the 9.3 location rating from pairs proves this) is how you can stroll along the river at sunset, then pop back to the hotel for a nightcap. The Streeterville neighborhood gives you that perfect mix of being in the thick of things while still feeling like you have a quiet retreat to return to.
Rooms That Actually Deliver
I’ll be honest — hotel beds can be hit or miss, but the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk really nailed this part. The beds are genuinely comfortable, not just marketing fluff, and after walking around Chicago all day, that matters more than you’d think. The rooms feel contemporary and well-maintained, with those floor-to-ceiling windows that give you proper city views (request a river-facing room if you can). There’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in, which isn’t always a given in downtown Chicago hotels.
Breakfast Worth Getting Up For
The breakfast situation here is actually pretty impressive — they’ve got continental options if you’re rushing out to catch a tour, but also proper American breakfast fare when you want something more substantial. What I appreciated was how they handle dietary restrictions without making it feel like an afterthought — the vegetarian and gluten-free options are legitimate choices, not just sad substitutes. The buffet setup moves efficiently, so you’re not standing around forever, which matters when you’ve got a packed Chicago itinerary ahead of you.
Why Guests Love It
You know what really sets this place apart? It’s how everything just works smoothly — the parking is available on-site (which saves you the headache of finding street parking in downtown Chicago), the location puts you within walking distance of basically everything you want to see, and the service feels genuinely attentive. Couples especially seem to get it — there’s something romantic about being able to walk along the river, grab dinner in the Loop, then come back to a comfortable, well-appointed room. It’s that sweet spot where you’re paying for quality and location without the pretentious attitude that sometimes comes with upscale downtown hotels.

Stephanie from Canada (9/10)
Location was amazing and Susanne at the guest service desk was so friendly and helpful.
Ivan from Australia (7/10)
The room was comfortable and functional. I liked that shampoo/conditioner/body wash were all in refillable bottles, which was environmentally friendly. I liked that I had the option not to have daily housekeeping as it just wasn't required. One staff member however would always stop to ask me if I needed anything whenever I passed her in the corridor.
Ana from Mexico (7/10)
Good location right at the Riverwalk.
I really like the breakfast at the River Cafe, which is downstairs. Congrats to the chef and all the staff, but one thing that we saw was that the OJ on a glass was poured to the OJ jug. The next day we didn’t ask for OJ.Viet from United States (7/10)

Views of the river and the city. Restaurants and shops were within walking distance. Staff were friendly.

I was disappointed that the free gift form the gift shop was not available all 4 of our days we stayed there.
Also, we stated we didn't need room service and that got me to thinking, why wouldn't there be an incentive to not have service, after all we are saving your staff time and supplies by bypassing this service?
