The Room Experience

The rooms here are what I’d call “thoughtfully designed” — they’re not huge, but every inch is used well. My room had these great floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of natural light, and the décor strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and nods to the building’s history. The beds are seriously comfortable, and I appreciated little touches like the quality linens and the fact that they actually provide decent lighting for reading. The bathrooms are compact but well-appointed, with good water pressure — something you can’t always count on in historic buildings.

Dining and Amenities

The hotel’s restaurant, Adamus, is actually worth eating at even if you’re not staying here. They focus on contemporary American cuisine, and the atmosphere feels sophisticated without being stuffy. For amenities, there’s a fitness center that’s small but has everything you need, and the business center is handy if you’re traveling for work. What I really appreciated was the 24-hour front desk staff — they genuinely seemed to know the city well and gave great recommendations for everything from late-night eats to jazz clubs.

  The most amazing bed.

  The front staff were very welcoming and friendly! The front house lady who worked nights with the long hair, aka the ice machine lady, was awesome. The house keeping was also very attentive and our room was clean.

  Great location, one block off Michigan Avenue near Millennium Park. Quick 4-5 blocks from the river. The room was very roomy and nicely appointed with a very comfortable bed. Nice extra's such as Q-tips, cotton balls, water for each guest each day and vouchers for a beverage in the bar.
