SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North Overview
First Impressions
Walking into SpringHill Suites Chicago Downtown/River North, you immediately get that “this is exactly where I want to be” feeling. The lobby has this modern, clean vibe without being sterile — honestly, it’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve put thought into making business travelers and tourists equally comfortable. The staff actually seems happy to see you, which isn’t always a given in downtown hotels.
Location & Neighborhood
You know what’s great about River North? You’re literally in the thick of everything without the tourist trap chaos of some other downtown areas. This three-star hotel sits on North Dearborn Street, and I mean, you can walk to the Magnificent Mile in about ten minutes, hit up some fantastic restaurants (the steakhouses here are legendary), or catch a show in the theater district. Chicago’s downtown can be tricky to navigate, but from here you’ve got easy access to the L trains, and honestly, most of what you want to see is walkable anyway.
The Room Experience
The suites here are actually suites — not just a room with a fancy name. You get a separate living area with a pull-out sofa, which is clutch if you’re traveling with family or just want space to spread out your laptop without sitting on the bed. The beds really are as comfortable as everyone says (I’m picky about mattresses, and I slept great), and there’s this little kitchenette setup with a mini-fridge and microwave. It’s not going to replace your home kitchen, but it’s perfect for storing leftovers from all the amazing food you’ll inevitably order too much of.
Breakfast & Amenities
The continental breakfast is — well, it’s continental breakfast, so don’t expect miracles, but it gets the job done. Fresh coffee, some pastries, fruit, the usual suspects. What I actually appreciated more was the fitness center, which is small but has decent equipment, and the fact that parking is available right at the hotel. Trust me, if you’re driving in downtown Chicago, having guaranteed parking is worth its weight in gold, even if you have to pay for it.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s the thing — couples absolutely rave about this place, and I get it. The location gives you that romantic city experience without the noise and crowds of some other downtown spots. You can walk hand-in-hand down to the Chicago Riverwalk, grab dinner at one of the incredible nearby restaurants, and come back to a quiet, comfortable space. The hotel strikes this nice balance between being professional enough for business travelers but relaxed enough that you don’t feel like you’re staying in a corporate box. Plus, that location score of 9.6 isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can get anywhere you want to go from here.

Great location and area of Chicago to sightsee in the city. Attached parking garage was a plus, although it was a little pricey. Bed was comfortable and room was very clean upon arrival. Walking distance to all major tourist attractions and to public transportation trains and buses. Area was safe and did not feel uncomfortable anywhere within walking distance of the hotel as this is more of an “uptown” part of downtown Chicago.

Rob at the Bar and Rachel at the front desk were exceptional, Rob greeted us every night at 5 pm with good Info on the City. Where to go and experience. His personality and social skills were excellent. He made some good craft cocktails as well. He started off our nightly journeys with upbeat stories about the city. And just made that part of the hotel a fun spot to hang out !
