Virgin Hotels Chicago Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Virgin Hotels Chicago feels like stepping into someone’s really cool downtown loft — if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. This four-star property sits right on North Wabash in the Loop, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better. You’re literally in the heart of everything, which explains why couples are absolutely obsessed with this place (they’ve rated the location a near-perfect 9.5). The lobby has this edgy-but-welcoming vibe that Virgin does so well — think modern art, moody lighting, and music that doesn’t make you want to immediately put in earbuds.
The Location Advantage
I mean, you really can’t beat being right in Chicago’s Loop. You’re a quick walk to Millennium Park, the Art Institute, and all those incredible architecture tours that make you feel like a proper tourist (in the best way). The riverwalk is just a few blocks south, and if you’re into shopping, State Street is right there. What I love is that you can actually walk to most of the major attractions — no need to figure out the L system on your first day, though it’s super accessible from here when you’re ready to venture further out.
The Room Experience
Here’s where Virgin really gets it right — the room setup is genuinely thoughtful. Instead of cramming everything into one space, they’ve created these separate areas that actually make sense. The sleeping area feels like a proper retreat, and those beds? Well, there’s a reason this place gets rave reviews for comfort. I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up confused about what time zone you’re in. The design is sleek without being cold, and there are enough outlets and USB ports that you won’t be crawling around on the floor trying to charge your phone.
Dining and Social Spaces
The Commons Club — that’s their main restaurant — has become a bit of a scene, and I get why. The space flows really well, with different areas depending on your mood. You can grab coffee and pastries in the morning (they do a solid American breakfast spread), or settle in for dinner with cocktails that are actually worth the downtown prices. The rooftop bar, Cerise, is where things get interesting — especially when the weather’s nice. You’ll want to make a reservation because word has definitely gotten out about the views.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both sophisticated and approachable. You’re not walking on eggshells worried about disturbing some stuffy atmosphere, but you’re also not dealing with the chaos of a party hotel. The staff seems to actually enjoy working there, which makes a bigger difference than you’d think. Plus, that location score isn’t just marketing fluff — you really can walk out the door and be in the middle of everything Chicago has to offer within minutes. It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay just because leaving feels like too much work.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Chicago before marathon weekend fills riverfront paths with cheering crowds.

it's close to all the major tourist attractions in Chicago. it's in a safe nice part of town. it is a comfortable and quiet place to stay. I loved how the bathroom is set up so you can have 2 people using different bathroom amenities at the same time. I liked that the TV was capable of connecting to my phone for streaming.
