Hotel Zachary, Chicago, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Hotel Zachary, Chicago, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical chain property. The brick facade and industrial-chic design feel perfectly at home in Lakeview, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — you’re literally across from Wrigley Field. I mean, you can hear the crowd roar from some rooms during Cubs games, which is either amazing or potentially disruptive depending on your perspective. The lobby strikes that sweet spot between upscale and approachable, with exposed brick and modern furnishings that don’t feel stuffy.
The Wrigleyville Advantage
Here’s what locals know — staying right on Clark Street puts you in the heart of everything without the downtown chaos. This four-star hotel sits in one of Chicago’s most walkable neighborhoods, and couples absolutely love it here (they rate the location nearly perfect, and I can see why). You’ve got the lakefront just a few blocks east, Lincoln Park Zoo within walking distance, and some of the city’s best bars and restaurants right outside your door. The private parking is actually a huge deal in this area — street parking around Wrigley can be a nightmare, especially during baseball season.
The Rooms
The rooms blend modern comfort with subtle nods to Chicago’s baseball heritage, though it’s done tastefully rather than over-the-top themed. Large windows let in plenty of natural light, and the beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel marketing speak. What I really appreciate is the attention to practical details: plenty of outlets, good water pressure in the shower, and blackout curtains that actually work. Some rooms have views of the ballpark, while others overlook the neighborhood, and both have their charm depending on what you’re after.
Dining and Social Spaces
The hotel’s restaurant and rooftop bar are where things get interesting. The rooftop, in particular, offers some pretty spectacular views of both Wrigley Field and the Chicago skyline — it’s become a bit of a destination spot for locals, not just hotel guests. The food is solid without trying too hard to be fancy, and the cocktail program is better than you’d expect. During Cubs games, the energy here is electric, but even on quiet nights, it’s a great spot to unwind after exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets Hotel Zachary apart is how it captures the neighborhood’s personality while delivering genuine comfort and service. The staff seems to actually know the area — they’ll point you toward the best late-night pizza or tell you which L stop to avoid during rush hour. It’s that rare hotel that feels connected to its surroundings rather than dropped in from corporate headquarters. Whether you’re here for a Cubs game, exploring Chicago’s cultural attractions, or just want to experience one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods, this place gets the balance right between location, comfort, and local character.

They have a lovely bar/lounge/patio area. So welcoming. The staff are remarkable. Anything you need they’re there to help you. The rooms are incredible. Make sure you get a room with the wrigley field. 5,6 floors are the best. I had the 3rd floor with the largest room and my view would have been better if my room be in a higher floor.

The location is a Cubs fan's dream! The ambiance, the esthetic and design elements were fantastic. Hotel staff was pleasant, helpful and welcoming. Staff at Alma, the hotel's restaurant, were an absolute delight, in particular Jane. We connected with her instantly. She gave us recommendations of what to do around town and how to go get there. She went out of her way to make my husband's trip memorable, got him a cookie from Crumbl cookies delivered to our room because we'd mentioned to her that it was his birthday.
The location of this hotel, being right across from Wrigley Field, is perfect! It's within walking distance of everything you could possibly want to do while in Wrigleyville.
If you want to treat your Cubs fan to an ultimate experience, this is the place you want to take them to.Diane from United States (10/10)
