Couples seem to really get this location — I can see why they rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re close enough to downtown that you can easily hop on the Blue Line, but far enough out that you feel like you’re experiencing the real Chicago. The tree-lined streets around here are perfect for those morning walks before the city fully wakes up.

Room Experience

The rooms are what I’d call “smartly designed” — everything has its place, and there’s actually enough space to spread out a bit. The beds are comfortable (I’m picky about this), and the work area is functional if you need to get some things done. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details — good lighting, plenty of outlets, and a bathroom that doesn’t make you feel like you’re playing Tetris every time you turn around. The soundproofing is solid too, which matters when you’re in a vibrant neighborhood like this.

Morning Fuel

The American buffet breakfast actually exceeded my expectations — and I mean that in the best way possible. It’s not just the usual sad continental spread you sometimes get at hotels. They’ve got hot options, fresh fruit, and decent coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM (fair warning), but there’s usually enough seating. Having private parking at the hotel is honestly a game-changer if you’re driving in Chicago — trust me on this one, street parking in Wicker Park can be an adventure you don’t want.

There’s something to be said for a place that keeps bringing people back, and Hyatt Place Chicago Wicker Park definitely has that repeat guest thing figured out. I think it comes down to consistency — you know what you’re getting, but it’s the good version of what you’re getting.   Loved the room, very quiet and clean. Plenty of outlets for chargers and laptop. Mini fridge, coffee maker. Great desk area for working, nice livingroom area for relaxing. Breakfast better than most with plenty of options but would like longer hours. 9am is early to end breakfast when on vacation. Beautiful views from breakfast area. Nice view from 4th floor room.

  We were staying at the hotel because of location. We were visiting Chicago for work and to celebrate our 5 year old son turning six. And while I was originally somewhat irritated that I actually paid extra to stay on a high floor – not realizing that there were only 8 floors to this hotel, and feeling like I'd been taken advantage of – Judy Szurgot made our stay a fantastic one. She went completely out of her way to help us celebrate our son's birthday. There were balloons and cookies and a banner in the room when we arrived, and later there were even more cookies when Judy stopped by to sing happy birthday to our son. It was such a sweet gesture. The next day there were more balloons hanging on the door. Thanks, Judy.

  The hotel was fixed on a corner street, which gave us a very optimal view to the traffic below. The staff were kind enough to check us in earlier than expected and held onto our luggage while we explored the city.

  The location was perfect and easy to reach from the highway. The valet parking was GREAT!! The restaurant was yummy and had a great view. Breakfast was quick and good. The room was as expected and clean.
