Ivy Boutique Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Ivy Boutique Hotel feels like discovering one of those perfectly curated spaces that somehow manages to be both sophisticated and welcoming. The lobby has this understated elegance — you know, the kind where every piece looks carefully chosen but not stuffy. I mean, it’s clearly a four-star property, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole vibe that sets it apart from the typical corporate hotels you’ll find scattered around downtown.
Prime Streeterville Location
Here’s what I love about the location on East Ontario — you’re literally in the sweet spot of Chicago. Streeterville puts you within walking distance of Navy Pier (though honestly, that’s more for the tourists), but more importantly, you’re close to some fantastic restaurants and the Magnificent Mile without being right in the chaos of it all. The couples who stay here absolutely get it — there’s something romantic about strolling along the lakefront, which is just a few blocks away, and then retreating to this quieter pocket of the neighborhood.
The Room Experience
I’ll be straight with you — the rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed in a way that makes the space feel larger than it actually is. The beds, though? They’re genuinely exceptional. I’m usually pretty skeptical when hotels boast about their bedding, but whatever they’ve done here actually works. The linens feel substantial, and there’s this perfect balance of firmness and comfort that had me sleeping better than I do at home. Each room has these large windows that flood the space with natural light during the day, and the blackout curtains mean you can sleep in as late as you want.
Neighborhood Dining & Atmosphere
What’s nice is that you don’t have to rely solely on the hotel restaurant — though it’s solid — because Streeterville has this great mix of casual spots and upscale dining within a few blocks. I found myself grabbing coffee at a little place around the corner in the mornings and then exploring different neighborhoods for dinner. The concierge actually knows the area well and can point you toward places that locals frequent, not just the obvious tourist traps.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t the flashiest hotel in Chicago, and it’s not trying to be. What it does well is create this comfortable, refined atmosphere where you can actually relax. The staff seems to genuinely care about making your stay pleasant without being overly formal about it. There’s covered parking available, which anyone who’s dealt with Chicago street parking will appreciate, especially during winter months. The whole experience feels more personal than what you’d get at the larger chain hotels, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it worth choosing.

Carter from United States (9/10)
My room was very clean and large with a king size bed and a lounge/ living room area. With televisions in each area. I really liked the huge bathroom with a choice of a tub or shower. Lots of fresh towels. Plenty of mirrors and a pretty good view. The hotel is very secure also. That was a plus and it was very easy to get the L train to the airport. The staff was superb, very ,very helpful and great attitudes toward every customer. Lots of good restaurants in the area with so many choices. Easy access to public transportation. I also liked the fact that the hotel is not too large. Although it was booked, there were not a lot of people jamming the hotel lobby.

Great location
Arlene from United States (9/10)
The room was a king suite which was very comfortable and roomy. There were 2 TVs allowing the both of us to watch TV at the same size. The room was very clean and the services were excellent. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. The location of the hotel was close to restaurants, the pier, The Chicago Art Institute and Mellinium Park, the Riverwalk and the train stations. Had a fun filled 4 days in Chicago.
Joanne from United Kingdom (9/10)
Room was enormous and very centrally located.
Natalia from Canada (7/10)
The shower needs to be repaired, wall paper is separating from the wall. Toiletries – very bad cheap plastic containers – can’t get anything out of it. Hard plastic and useless packaging. I would never want to use the toiletries in this hotel. Please change the supplier!!!
