The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop Overview
First Impressions
Walking into The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop, you immediately get that classic Chicago vibe — it’s got character without trying too hard. The lobby has this warm, sophisticated energy that feels distinctly local rather than cookie-cutter corporate. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of the Loop, so the location alone is pretty spectacular, but there’s something about the way this four-star property carries itself that feels authentically Chicago. The hotel’s design reflects the city’s architectural heritage while maintaining contemporary comfort standards.
Location & Getting Around
Honestly, the location is probably the hotel’s biggest selling point — and that’s saying something. You’re on West Randolph, which puts you within walking distance of basically everything that matters downtown. The theater district is right there, Millennium Park is a quick stroll, and you’ve got incredible dining options in every direction. What I really appreciate is that they offer parking on-site, which anyone who’s tried to navigate downtown Chicago will tell you is worth its weight in gold. Couples especially seem to love exploring the area — apparently they rate the location a solid 9.4, and I can see why. The proximity to public transportation makes getting around the city effortless.
The Room Experience
The rooms here are where things get interesting. You know what really stood out? The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel marketing comfortable, but actually sleep-through-the-night comfortable. The room design strikes this nice balance between modern functionality and that slightly vintage Chicago charm. The windows give you decent city views, and there’s enough space to actually unpack and settle in for a few days without feeling cramped. Each room is thoughtfully appointed with quality furnishings and modern amenities.
Amenities & Services
The hotel keeps things straightforward without being boring. There’s a solid restaurant on-site that serves decent food — nothing groundbreaking, but reliable when you don’t feel like venturing out into the Chicago wind. The staff actually seems to know the neighborhood well, which is refreshing when you need recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots. The fitness center is there if you need it, though honestly, with all the walking you’ll do exploring downtown, you might not need the extra workout. Room service and concierge support are available throughout your stay.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes this place work is how it balances being in the thick of everything without feeling chaotic. You’re close enough to catch a show, grab dinner at one of Randolph’s great spots, or just wander around the Loop, but when you come back to the hotel, it feels like a proper retreat. The combination of that excellent location score and genuinely comfortable accommodations means you’re not making trade-offs — you get both convenience and quality sleep, which is honestly all most travelers really want from their downtown Chicago base. This four-star hotel delivers on both fronts consistently.

Everything. Beautiful lobby area. We had a huge opulent room (with 2 bathrooms!!) the room service was faultless, we were given a coffee machine on request with replenished supplies. Very relaxing stay!

I stayed in the Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel Chicago Loop for 5 nights for my 2nd majors marathon.
When I checked in, the hotel reception gave me a warm welcome , and when I asked questions regarding the public transport CTA and boat tour, Hetal the receptionist gave me clear and specific directions and information how to get there. My room was big , warm and comfortable.
On the Sunday marathon day the hotel gave runners a special breakfast in the lobby. The hotel wasn’t very far from the start and finish marathon event.Gill from United Kingdom (8/10)

Nice ambiance in the hotel lobby with plenty of places to sit and relax. Bar at the restaurant has happy hour 4-6, and two fantastic bartenders who mix up excellent $10 cocktails. You get a $10/day hotel credit so great place to use it.
Beds were very comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Staff was friendly. Overall a good experience, just expensive, but it is the city!Kevin from United Kingdom (8/10)
When we arrived. our room was to our liking, so the Porter immediately messaged the front desk and a more pleasant upgraded room was offered to us at no extra charge.

Good quality coffee and tea, avoids waste by not having plastic keurig machines in all rooms. Friendly staff
