What’s really nice is that couples seem to gravitate toward this area, and I can see why — there’s something romantic about strolling down to the lakefront or grabbing dinner at one of the nearby spots without having to plan some elaborate expedition across the city.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was on the 12th floor, and while it wasn’t huge, it felt thoughtfully designed. The windows actually open (which you don’t always get in Chicago hotels), and the view toward the lake was pretty decent. The bed was comfortable — not life-changing, but solid. What I appreciated was the attention to small details: good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a bathroom that didn’t feel cramped. The shower pressure was excellent, which honestly can make or break a stay for me.

There’s also a fitness center that’s small but well-equipped, and the staff keeps it clean. I noticed they have a business center too, which came in handy when I needed to print boarding passes. The parking situation is what you’d expect in this part of town — valet only, and it’s pricey, but that’s just Chicago for you.

You can walk to Millennium Park, hit the shops, or catch a show, then come back to a quiet, well-run hotel.   The hotel is brilliantly situated really close to the miracle mile, the former Hancock tower and the lakeside. It felt safe with good restaurants in the direct vicinity. The receptionist Mathew was outstanding in his friendliness and helpfulness. The rooms are a reasonable size with a very comfy bed.
